King Midas thought gold was the answer to everything. So when Dionysus offered him one wish, Midas did not hesitate: "Everything I touch turns to gold." At first it was glorious — roses, tables, goblets, all gleaming. Then dinner came. The bread turned to metal in his hands. The wine hardened in his cup. When his daughter ran to hug him, she froze mid-laugh — a golden statue. Midas fell to his knees and begged the god to take it all back. Be careful what you wish for.
